EASURES OF SUCCESS
The Center's purpose is to promote activities and provide assistance to efforts that strengthen and enhance the production and marketing of sheep or goat products in the United States. The impact of the Center's actions on the sheep and goat industries will be more readily evident in the long-term. However, in the short-run, the success of the Center's activities may be measured primarily by its performance in creating the mechanisms for getting funds into the hands of entities whose projects will achieve the purposes for which the Center was established by Congress.
Implement the FY 2005 Sheep and Goat Industry Grant Initiative (SGIGI) to fund a number of diverse projects that will benefit the U.S. sheep or goat industries.
Monitor active Sheep and Goat Industry Grants from prior years
Assist and monitor the Grant Agreement with National Livestock Producer’s Association.
Explore options and develop privatization mechanism.
Develop options for sustainability after privatization.
Continue to disseminate information on Center activities throughout the sheep and goat industry and the general public.
Continue to update and improve the web site for enhanced communications
Conduct listening sessions with industry leaders and provide method for obtaining written industry input.
Keep apprised and work with public and private organizations that also work with the sheep and goat industries.
Seek additional funding from Congress.
Maintain and monitor Administrative and Program accounting systems.
Continue developing policies for monitoring all forms of financial assistance provided by the Center.
Develop fiscal 2006 Strategic Plan.
Continue to provide information helpful to the industry that is unavailable elsewhere.
Explore the possibilities for utilizing the remaining fund.
